About Our Practice

Ernest V. Loewenstein, Ph.D., O.D.,
Specialist in Developmental and
Environmental Vision Problems
617-244-6454

Dr. Loewenstein offers eye and vision examinations, eyewear and contact lenses to patients of all ages, from infants to seniors. His practice emphasizes visual comfort as well as sharpness. These are not always the same thing. The patient is encouraged to bring information about vocational and recreational activities so that all the visual needs can be addressed.

In addition to the usual optometric services, Dr. Loewenstein makes a specialty of seeing patients with reading and learning difficulties, and patients with lazy eye or turned eyes. These individuals can often be helped with vision therapy ("eye exercises") Adults as well as children can be treated for these conditions. Children with a diagnosis of LD or ADD/HD often have accompanying vision problems that exacerbate these conditions.

A popular speaker with kids and adults, Dr. Loewenstein makes the important business of learning about eye health approachable and comfortable.
